I will never forget the impact that seeing Paul Alexander’s photo in a science textbook had on me when I was 8 years old.
I can still recall the text about the consequences and sequels from polio and underlining the importance of vaccines in eradicating it.
The thought of a life trapped in a metal tube haunted me in my deepest nightmares.
“It is part of me”, was his response when questioned about the machine.
